Recreation for Adolescents & Young Adults
The primary purpose of CFLF is to enable adolescents and young adults with opportunities that are both therapeutic and fun. Issues of infection control have prohibited the operation of CF camps, which at one time were great means of developing social, emotional and physical strengthening for kids with cystic fibrosis - while having FUN! CFLF strives to provide individualized activities facilitated by non-CF mentors in order to address the challenges of infectious control.

Who is eligible?
CFLF will sponsor individuals with CF between the ages of 13 and 24 years old, who are referred by their CF physician. Medical professionals will be counseled carefully in considering physical eligibility, and developing lifestyle goals and objectives for individuals. Individuals or family members may contact CFLF directly for interest in help with activities.

What activities will CFLF sponsor?

Currently there is not a limit on what activites CFLF will or will not sponsor. Activities ranging from team sports to indidual activities, extreme sports, performing and creative arts are all possibilities. Consideration of activities will be pariticpant deriven.

How do I get support from CFLF for myself, a loved one, or a patient?

You may contact CFLF by e-mail, or phone to be considered for activities. We are currently targeting January 2007 to begin programing. Individualized plans will be set up and funding will be allocated based on need for fullfilling activity schedules.

Here are some ideas:
Summer: Hiking/camping, sailing, swimming, kayaking, windsurfing, wakeboarding/waterskiing, rock-climbing, horseback riding, day camp, frisbee
Autumn: Hiking, sailing

Transportation coordinated with volunteers who will facilitate activities as well.
Summer camp scholarships available.
