Sailing for CF

 "CF Knotta-Regatta"

Date: September 6, 2008 - Saturday

Location: Malletts Bay Boat Club, Colchester, VT

Registration:  $50 ONLINE pre-registration before 9/3, and should be paid through CFLF Website "Make a Donation".  Registration after 9/3 will take place at check-in at day of event and will be $75.  Day-of registration and Check-in will take place from 10:30 - 11:15 am at MBBC Club House.

Fundraising:  Each individual who is able to raise at least $50 in sponsorships will receive a custom embroidered CFLF polo shirt.    Funds should be turned in at check-in at day of event.

General Description:

A single "Fun-race" will be held on Saturday, September 6th to help Fundraise to benefit Cystic Fibrosis Lifestyle Foundation.  No spinnakers or bloopers will be allowed.  Boats may only use one headsail at a time, no larger than the maximum PHRF rated genoa.  A reception will be held following the race at MBBC.

 

Classes: 

One Division for all boats

 

Course:

Start in inner Malletts Bay to mark in Niquettes Bay, round Beer Can Island, and finish line will be at MBBC.  Alterations to course will be discussed at Skippers Meeting based on wind.

 

Skippers Meeting:

11:15 hours on the dock

 

Starting Time:

11:55 hours – Warning Signal for all Classes

12:00 hours – Starting Signal for all Classes

 

Awards:

Reception and awards will follow race at 1600 hours at MBBC.  Prizes will be awarded based on fundraising achievements and a “Knotta Regatta” cup will be awarded to race winner.

Cycling for CF

"Champ's Challenge for Cystic Fibrosis"

Date: July 12th-13th: Multi-level ride around parts of Lake Champlain VT/NY.

Location: All three rides will start & finish at Burlington's Waterfront Park.

Fundraising: Riders are expected to pay the registration fee for each ride ($50/$75/$150) either in advance by mailing a check or online. Payment may also be made at check-in the day of the ride. Registration fees will include a CFLF "Champ's Challenge" shirt, and admission to the Post-Ride celebration with a catared buffed (courtesy of Sheraton) and music by Chad Hollister from 4pm to 6pm at the Waterfront.

We also encourage you to ask for sponsorships from others.  This may be to help pay your registration fee, or going above and beyond!!  Embroiderd CFLF shirts will be given to fundraisers of $100 above registration fee, and embroidered fleeces will be given to fundraisers of $250 above registration fee.

Description:

  • Champ's 2-Day Challenge (appx. 150 mi.) - July 12-13: Check-in: 8:00am (Saturday) @ Waterfront Park - Start at 9:00am. Ride South from Burlington, VT to Charlotte, VT and cross Lake Champlain by ferry.  Overnight camping and food will be provided at Cumberland Head State Park in Plattsburgh, NY, and return on Day-2 through the gorgeous Champlain Islands.  **** See maps below.
  • 1-Day Champ Ride (appx. 80 mi.) - July 13: Check-in: 8:00am (Sunday) @ Waterfront Park - Start at 9:00am. Ride North from Burlington, VT through the Champlain Islands.  Riders will have a lunch break in the islands and meet with the 2-day riders returning to the Waterfront in Burlington.
  • Champ's Family Fund Ride (appx. 15 mi.) - July 13: Check-in: 11:00am (Sunday) @ Waterfront Park - Start at 12:00pm. Ride North from Burlington, VT along the scenic Champlain Bikeway on the coast of Lake Champlain.  Enjoy scenic views at a leisurely pace with a break station and turn-around at Airport Park in Colchester, VT.
  • All riders will have opportunity to meet and ride together on the return trip to Burlington.  A completion celebration will be held at Waterfront park with food and music.  Come join the fun!!

Other Fundraising Events

"Full Sails for Full Lives"

This event held in June is 'not-a-regatta', but rather a fun sailing event to bring awareness to the way in which CF can be harnessed, like an opposing wind, as a driving force to propel one forward.
"Cycling for CF"

2006 -This event took place over five weeks and 13 states from Maine to Key West. The focus was on public awareness, networking with CF centers along the East coast, as well as fundraising. Read and see more about it here.
"Bouncing for Bucks"

A chapter of Alpha Chi Omega sorority at University of Vermont holds and annual 48-hour bouncing event. Over the course of two days, this event brings a great awareness and fun to young adults helping to improve the lives of other young people with CF.
"Hike-o-Rama"

This event held in October summits three mountains in the Green Mountains of Vermont - Camel's Hump, Mt. Hunger, and Mt. Mansfield.
