Blog Topics & Submission

The CFLF welcomes both regular and guest authors for the CFLF Weekly Blog.  Please review the monthly topics and leader questions to consider in submitting your writitng piece.  Articles must be submitted by the last day of the month preceding the topic of the month they are written for (example: articles on CF Awareness Month would need to be submitted by the end of April for posting consideration in the month of May).

Please email your article to info@CFLF.org with:

  • Title of the article
  • Article text - 500 to 1,500 words
  • Two or three pictures to be included within the body of your article
  • One high-resolution horizontal photo (greater than 1800px wide) related to your article 
  • A short bio about the author written in third person

 

 

February - Advocacy and Rare Disease Day (Feb 28th)

  1. What is your personal experience with advocacy?

  2. Why does advocacy appeal to you?

  3. What is the importance of awareness?

  4. Are there impacts you have seen from your advocacy/awareness efforts?

 

March- Pandemic stories

  1. What were your initial reactions to the spread of COVID?

  2. How did quarantine affect your physical and mental health?

  3. What was your biggest coping mechanism for dealing with the pandemic/quarantine?

  4. Do you have any advice for others with CF about hanging in there.

 

April- Organ Donation Awareness Month

  1. How does organ donation impact your life?

  2. What was or is your perspective on being a donor recipient in the past or future?

  3. How can individuals contribute to Organ Donation awareness?

 

May- CF Awareness month

  1. Why do you consider awareness important for those faced with cystic fibrosis?

  2. What are some ways that you have personally contributed to CF awareness?

  3. What is the most challenging aspect of advocating for cystic fibrosis awareness?

  4. What do you find to be the most important part of CF Awareness Month?

 

June- Nutrition and CF

  1. What is your favorite recipe and why? (please share the recipe)

  2. How has nutrition affected you or your loved one with CF?

  3. What do you consider the most important element of nutrition in living with CF?

 

July- CF and Family

  1. How has your family impacted your life with CF?

  2. What is the most powerful family experience you have had?

  3. How does having CF for yourself or your partner affect your perspective on parenthood?

  4. If you are a parent or spouse with CF, what do you hope to most impart on your children?

 

August- Humorous stories about living with CF (National Smile Week is 8/5-8/11)

  1. What is a funny work or school moment that you experienced trying to explain CF.

  2. What role does laughter play in your life with CF.

  3. Who provides you with the most smiles or laughter and why?

 

September- Back to school

  1. How do you prepare for the start of school?

  2. Virtual Classes: how have you adapted to the new look of school?

  3. What are tips and tricks of how you or your child bring CF to school with them?

  4. How do your or your child explain their CF to others?

 

October- Exercise and CF

  1. What are some of your favorite exercises to help with your CF?

  2. How do you manage to build exercise into your daily routine with CF?

  3. If you are on a CFTR modulator, what has your experience been with exercise since starting treatment?

  4. What is an exercise or activity that you have never done before, but would love to try?

 

November- CF and Mental Health

  1. What are some remedies you have for helping with keeping yourself grounded?

  3. How does your life with CF affect your mental health?
